MANIK MAHATO REMANDED IN 10 DAYS' POLICE CUSTODY

Jhargram: Manik Mahato, one of the alleged plotters of the Jnaneswari Express sabotage, was on Thursday remanded in 10 days’ police custody. Maoist leader Manik, who the police claimed was a “bigger catch than prime accused Bapi Mahato”, was arrested on Wednesday from Orissa.

Bhubaneswar: Breaking News! In a major boost to the probe into the derailment of Gyaneshwari Express in West Bengal on May 28, a key accused in this case, Manik Mahato was arrested from Baripada in Orissa's Mayurbhanj district.

Manik Mahato is said to be a close aide of main accused Bapi Mahato, who was arrested along with others earlier. Manik was evading the arrest for a long time. At least 148 people were killed and over 200 injured, when some derailed coaches of Gyaneshwari Express were hit by a speeding goods train.

Manik Mahato was arrested during a joint operation conducted by the Orissa and West Bengal Police. One AK-47 rifle and some documents were reportedly recovered from him.
